Murphy to Honor Outstanding Women in Central Florida During Women’s History Month

ORLANDO-U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., today announced that, this Women's History Month, she will honor women who are making outstanding contributions to the Central Florida community. To do so, Murphy has created an online nomination process through which individuals can nominate candidates for 'Women of the Year.' As the first Vietnamese-American woman elected to Congress and the first woman to represent Florida's Seventh Congressional District, Murphy hopes to recognize and raise awareness about exceptional women leaders in her district.

Murphy encourages anyone who knows an outstanding woman leader who resides or works in Florida's Seventh Congressional District to nominate them through her website at murphy.house.gov/WomenOfTheYear. Murphy will present the nominations to an independent panel of women community leaders, which will select the honorees that Murphy will announce at the end of the month.

'This month, our nation honors and celebrates the accomplishments and contributions that women have made throughout history,' said Murphy. 'Our community is home to many incredible women leaders and I look forward to celebrating their achievements and service.'

To qualify for a nomination, nominees must reside or work in Florida's Seventh Congressional District. Nominations must be submitted through Murphy's website at murphy.house.gov/WomenOfTheYear no later than 5:00 p.m. March 24, 2021.
