One month from today - October 14, 2022 - marks the first day of online voting for Greater Sudbury's Municipal and School Board Elections. Here are some things you need to know.
Voters' List
Over the past few months, we have been reminding voters to use the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation's (MPAC) voter lookup tool to check that they're on the voters' list and make any updates to their information. We are now in the official revisions period, which means that MPAC has handed their voters' list over to the City.
From now until October 24, voters can visit the City's website at www.greatersudbury.ca/city-hall/municipal-schoolboard-elections/am-i-on-the-voters-list/to make sure they're on the voters' list and that their information is correct.Any changes will need to be made in person at a Voter Registration Centre.
Greater Sudbury Citizen Service Centres and Libraries are designated as Voter Registration Centres during their regular operating hours until October 24, 2022. For a list of locations and operating hours, visit www.sudburylibraries.ca.
What Happens Next?
If you are on the voters' list and your information is correct and up to date, you will receive a Voter Information Letter (VIL) in the mail near the end of September. The VIL will include your personal information and instructions for online and paper voting.
If you updated your voter information after September 12, you may not receive a VIL in the mail. You also will not receive one if your address information is incorrect on the voters' list, or if you're not on the list at all.
That doesn't mean you can't vote! But you will need a VIL to vote, so you have two options:
Voting Opportunities
Your vote matters when it comes to shaping the city you want Greater Sudbury to be. It's important to us to ensure the voting method we use benefits the greatest number of voters. That's why we're providing a choice in how and when you vote:
