SAN ANTONIO (January 21, 2022) - The following is a statement from Councilman McKee-Rodriguez on a shooting that occurred on Martin Luther King day:
"On a reflective and impactful day to honor Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all he accomplished for our country, a senseless act of gun violence disrupted safety and family joy on Spriggsdale Ave. Earlier in the day, many gathered and marched to reflect on all Dr. King accomplished, modeled, and fought for, while recognizing the work we still have to do to ensure justice for all people. Justice also looks like safety and security for our neighbors in their everyday lives.
I continue to commit this time in office to take proactive measures which address the root causes of crime and violence. Reacting to these events is not enough. My love and thoughts are with the victims for a full and speedy recovery, and those who were present at what was meant to be a family and community celebration."
