CEO da Hovione Guy Villax é o vencedor do prémio EY Entrepreneur of The Year

Guy Villax, leader of the Portuguese pharmaceutical multinational Hovione, member of AIP since 1995, wins the 8th edition of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award in Portugal and will represent the country at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year, which will take place next June.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is considered the most prestigious business award in the world for entrepreneurs.

'This is an important distinction for the company, but above all for the people who work there and it is for them, therefore, that I thank you in the first place', said Guy Villax when receiving the award.

The administrator highlighted the dynamics and character that has marked Hovione, since its foundation in 1959: 'Company with more than 60 years and with strong values, where innovation takes on a central role'.

The CEO explained that 'it is necessary to constantly look for opportunities and find ways to stay ahead of the competition', being that 'innovation is fundamental to success'. Otherwise, 'a company that does not progress, dies'.

A family company, Hovione has maintained that dominant note of the Villax in the difficult business of research and production of active ingredients for medicines.

'We can be conservative in the financial area, but in everything that is technology, I think we are the first to go to the deep end of the pool', said Guy Villax, highlighting the excellence of one of the most emblematic national companies, with factories in Portugal , in the United States, Macau and Ireland.

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year award was created in the USA in 1986 to recognize and encourage creative entrepreneurs who invest in corporate, visionary and successful projects. It is represented in 145 points of the globe and more than 60 countries.

In Portugal, and in its eight editions, the prize analyzed about 40 applications. The winners were Belmiro de Azevedo (Grupo Sonae), Carlos and Jorge Martins (Grupo Martifer), Carlos Moreira da Silva (BA Glass), Dionísio Pestana (Grupo Pestana), Manuel Alfredo de Mello (Nutrinveste), Bento Correia and Miguel Leitmann ( Vision-Box) and António Amorim (Corticeira Amorim).
