During SHOW ME event in Milan, LVMH spotlights how its new Métiers d'Excellence initiatives contribute to preserve and pass on unique savoir-faire in Italy.
Following its first edition of "SHOW ME" last year in Florence, this second edition in Milan reaffirmed the importance of the Italian ecosystem in sourcing Creativity, Craftsmanship and Client Experience métiers at LVMH - Italy being home to six of the Group's iconic Maisons (Bulgari, Acqua di Parma, Loro Piana, Fendi, Pucci and Cova), as well as 31 manufactures. The Group's commitment to transmit and safeguard savoir-faire and support a new generation of skilled talents through its Métiers d'Excellence initiative is crucial considering the shortage of talents in professions such as luxury retail or high-level hospitality. The Altagamma Foundation estimates that by the end of 2026 there will be a shortfall of 346,000 people in Métiers d'Excellence in Italy, including 94,000 in the fashion and leather goods sector and 36,000 in hospitality, acquiring those skills is a great opportunity for employment.
During SHOW ME in Teatro Lirico Giorgo Gaber in Milan, the Group showcased a year of new initiatives by LVMH to raise awareneness, valorize its Métiers d'Excellence (representing 7,000 talents out of its 12,000 Italian workforce) and train talents to safeguard and help pass on these unique skills in Italy.
From the opening with Alexandre Boquel, Director of Métiers d'Excellence LVMH, to the conclusion by Toni Belloni, LVMH's Group Managing Director, all participants emphasized the key role played by Italy craftsmanship within LVMH, which collaborates with a network of 5,000 suppliers and subcontractors, representing over 200,000 people.
Guest speaker Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italiana, announced on this occasion that the Group will be launching an Italian Craftmanship Prize, in partnership with Fendi, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Confartigianato to support craftsmen from all over the country.
SHOW ME was also the occasion to showcase the 100% Italian collaborative work by artist Francesca Pasquali and craftswoman Simona Iannini who created the second yearly artistic commission by Métiers d'Excellence LVMH, aiming to create new conversations between Art and Craftsmanship.
"LVMH's Métiers d'Excellence initiative around learning and training in creativity, craftsmanship and client experience is a long-term commitment at the heart of our human resources philosophy. It highlights the essential role our talents play in the performance and development of our Group, and we hope it will keep attracting a new generation to our Métiers, especially in Italy. In this country, we expect to recruit over 2,000 people in these professions over the next two years, and we are delighted that there is already a community of 2,000 apprentices that have been trained through the Institute of Métiers d'Excellence, in 6 countries since 2014." says Chantal Gaemperle, EVP Human Resources and Synergies of the LVMH Group.
