Jimmie women's 4x400 relay qualifies for nationals; Gumke 4th in pole vault

The University of Jamestown women's indoor track and field team added to its list of athletes qualified for the NAIA National Championships.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Carmen DeVries (FR/Winslow, Ill.), Meghan Orr (JR/Ypsilanti, N.D.), Kristin Breaux (SO/Chino, Calif.), and Kylee Voigt (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) ran 4:02.91 and took fourth place at the Concordia (Neb.) Indoor Invite Friday.

Last week the quartet took first at the DWU Open in Mitchell, S.D., just missing the qualifying time by .03 seconds.

The Jimmies competed at the two-day SDSU Indoor Classic, which concluded Saturday in Brookings, S.D.

Julia Johnson (JR/Park River, N.D.) turned in the top individual performance, placing 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet.

Voigt cracked the top 20 in the 400 meters, tying for 15th in a time of 58.64 seconds.

On the men's side, Braedon Gumke (FR/Watford City, N.D.) cleared a collegiate-best 14 feet, 9 inches in the pole vault to tie for fourth place.

Kory Powell (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) was 18th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.09 seconds.

Next up for the Jimmies is the GPAC Indoor Championships in Seward, Neb., on February 15-16.
