Russian peacekeepers at observation posts provide round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and the ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian peacekeepers provide round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over the observance of the ceasefire regime at twenty-seven observation posts located in the Lachin corridor and along the entire demarcation line in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to carry out tasks to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached on a ceasefire and hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

A total of 27 observation posts of Russian peacekeepers are located along the entire demarcation line and ensure compliance with the truce in the area of responsibility, including in the Lachin corridor and in the area of the city of Shusha.

The personnel of the peacekeeping contingent is equipped with the most modern weapons, military and special equipment, including armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, armored vehicles Tiger and Typhoon, as well as provided with all necessary types of allowances.

The peacekeeping contingent consists only of contract service personnel who have received special training to perform peacekeeping tasks. Most peacekeepers have experience in carrying out tasks to ensure and support humanitarian operations in the Syrian Arab Republic.

They are tasked with collecting information on cases of violations of the ceasefire regime, promptly communicating this data to the command of the peacekeeping forces, as well as maintaining the safety of transit transport and suppressing illegal actions against civilians.

During November alone, Russian peacekeepers ensured the safe passage of about 80 car convoys through the Lachin corridor in the northern and southern directions. About 500 pilgrims were escorted to monasteries and cultural heritage sites located in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

In order to control the ceasefire regime and monitor the situation, the mobile groups of the Russian peacekeeping contingent conducted 90 patrols along the agreed routes on the demarcation line, made about 70 trips to ensure the safety of agricultural and repair and restoration work, carried out water supply to the population of Stepanakert, Chartar, Badar, Aigestan, Machkalashen with the transfer of 14 tanks for storing drinking water.

Representatives of the Russian Humanitarian Response Center, with the participation of charitable organizations, conducted 8 humanitarian actions, more than 10 tons of humanitarian aid were transferred to internally displaced persons and families in need.

Specialists of engineering and sapper units have checked 1,937 buildings to date, 683 km of roads and 2,319 hectares of territory have been cleared, 26,076 explosive objects have been found and destroyed.

The doctors of the special medical unit of the peacekeeping contingent provided qualified assistance to more than 800 local residents.

At the moment, the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have all the necessary conditions for comfortable living and performing special and peacekeeping tasks.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia dated November 10, 2020, a Russian peacekeeping contingent of 1960 military personnel, 90 armored personnel carriers, 380 units of automotive and special equipment was deployed to monitor the ceasefire and military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

Peacekeepers provide humanitarian assistance to the local population, assistance in the restoration of civilian infrastructure facilities, and ensure the safety of citizens' return to their places of permanent residence. Specialists of engineering units are working to mine the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian military doctors have deployed a field hospital, which provides assistance to the local population.

Russian peacekeepers contribute to the implementation of the agreement on the exchange of prisoners of war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Thanks to the efforts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the trilateral agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh is being consistently implemented, Russian peacekeepers are doing everything necessary to stabilize the situation in the region.
