Martha's Vineyard, MA - May 3, 2021 - The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation has pledged $50,000 over five years to Martha's Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) to support the continued expansion of its campus and ensure the sustainability of new programs. The grant helps launch Phase II of the MVCS Capital Campaign, which targets to raise $15 million to build a new Main Campus Building that will house the Island Counseling Center, Disability Services, Urgent Care Center, Emergency Services, and Administration.

'We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation and their continued support of our Island community,' said Beth Folcarelli, Chief Executive Officer for MVCS. 'Thousands walk through our doors each year, and the demand for our services has grown immensely due to the pandemic. While we have worked tirelessly to evolve our services to meet the needs of our residents, these funds will allow us to make much-needed enhancements to our physical resources as well.'

Founded in 1961, MVCS is a social service umbrella organization that supports the Martha's Vineyard community's overall health and well-being. MVCS launched its phased $24 million Capital Campaign in 2017 to fund critical projects that would innovate and grow the campus in Oak Bluffs. In Phase I, MVCS raised $9 million to build a new Early Education and Care Center, set to open in September 2021. During the construction project, MVCS collaborates with the public school district, the town of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard Commission, the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard, and Island Elderly Housing. The campus sits on land owned and leased to MVCS by the public school district. By working with local community organizations, MVCS will be able to ensure the project meets all local requirements and minimally disrupts the lives and work of neighbors.

'We are proud to be part of the close-knit Martha's Vineyard community,' said Edward H. Seksay, President and Chair of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. 'MVCS provides compassionate support and care, and we are pleased to provide financial support that will help MVCS continue to deliver invaluable health and social services to children, families, and individuals.'

Funding from Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation and other supporters will be crucial for MVCS to grow and adjust to the increasing and evolving demands of 17,000 year-round Island residents and 100,000 seasonal residents and visitors. MVCS new Disability Services space will be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, accessible to all, and feature the Island's only Sensory Lending Library. The new Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and Recovery Services space will shorten waitlists for care by adding additional treatment rooms and meeting spaces for group programs. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation will have permanent name recognition at MVCS in the Telemedicine Office area.

Rockland Trust's affiliated charitable foundations focus on giving that supports affordable housing, community development, education, financial literacy, health and human services, and youth programs.
