On May 8, 2024, State Police assigned to the Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) arrested Shaun T. Hawkins, 46, of New Britain, CT, for:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree, a class "A" felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a class "A" felony
  • Four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class "B" Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class "D" felony
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence, a class "E" felony

Jack A. Williams, 46, of Hartford, CT, was also arrested for:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree, a class "A" felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a class "A" felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class "B" Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class "D" felony
  • Resisting Arrest, a class "A" misdemeanor

On May 8, 2024, at about 12:24 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on State Route 7 in Hoosick, NY, for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Williams, and the passenger was identified as Hawkins. During the stop, Troopers observed an illegal expandable baton in plain sight in the vehicle, and both Williams and Hawkins were taken into custody. While being taken into custody, Williams attempted to flee on foot. Further investigation discovered multiple felony-weight narcotics, including fentanyl and cocaine, in the vehicle.

Both Hawkins and Williams were transported to SP Brunswick for processing. While in custody, Hawkins was found to have additional narcotics secreted on him. They were both arraigned at the Brunswick Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
