Hershey Gardens Announces September 2021 Events

Bug-O-Rama Returns; Rose Show Debuts

September 2021 at Hershey Gardens brings back Bug-O-Rama, being held on Sunday, Sept. 12, and welcomes theannual Penn-Jersey District Rose Showon Sept. 18-19. Details on both events are listed below.

Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Families can see bugs from around the world and learn about their origin and behavior at Hershey Gardens' fifth annual Bug-O-Rama. Bug expert Ryan 'Ryan the Bug Man' Bridge as well as a ZooAmerica representative will be onsite with live exotic and native insects, including tarantulas, scorpions, millipedes and cockroaches. Also attending this year is butterfly expert Rick 'The Butterfly Guy' Mikula.Collections of preserved exotic and unusual bugs will also be on display.Other activities include the following:

  • Puppet show in The Children's Garden amphitheater at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • The PA WoodMobile, a mobile exhibit about forestry and the invasive insects that roam our woods
  • Beekeeping demonstration with local beekeeper Mark Bogrette
  • Hershey Gardens' Bug Cart
  • Kids' games and crafts
  • Sarah's Creamery

Bug-O-Rama is included in general admission, which includes entrance to the Butterfly Atrium. General admission tickets may be purchased online in advance atHersheyGardens.orgor at the door the day of the event.

New! The Annual Penn-Jersey District Rose Show: 'Roses and Friends, Better Together Again'
Saturday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

For the first time, Hershey Gardens will serve as the venue for the Annual Penn-Jersey District Rose Show: 'Roses and Friends, Better Together Again.' Members of the Penn-Jersey District of the American Rose Society will have their roses judged and displayed in Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory. The day's events also include the following:

  • Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Rosarians will be available in the Historic Rose Garden to answer questions about rose varieties and care.
  • Saturday, Sept.18, 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Rosarians will give presentations on roses in the Garden Cottage.
  • Sunday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.Rosarians will be available in the Historic Rose Garden to answer questions on rose varieties and care.

The rose show is included in general admission. General admission tickets may be purchased online in advance at HersheyGardens.org or at the door the day of the event.
