COMMISSIONERS OFFER DEFENSIVE DRIVING TRAINING TO EMPLOYEES

In a proactive measure to prioritize safety on the roads, the Board of Ashtabula County Commissioners held their annual defensive driving course for all employees, department managers, and elected officials who operate a County vehicle or drive their personal vehicle on behalf of the County at any time.

"The decision to continue this mandatory course underscores Ashtabula County's commitment to fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among its workforce. With road safety being of paramount importance, the defensive driving course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to mitigate risks and prevent accidents while on the road," stated Board President, Kathryn Whittington.

This initiative aligns with Ashtabula County's ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency in its operations. By ensuring that all individuals entrusted with driving responsibilities undergo comprehensive defensive driving training, the County aims to reduce the likelihood of accidents, protect lives, and safeguard public resources.

The defensive driving course will cover essential topics such as hazard recognition, safe driving practices, vehicle handling techniques, and strategies for avoiding collisions. Participants will have access to expert instruction and resources designed to enhance their driving skills and promote a culture of vigilance behind the wheel.

Vice-President, JP Ducro stated, "Ashtabula County remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the well-being of its employees and the communities it serves. Through initiatives like the defensive driving course, the County continues to demonstrate proactive leadership in promoting safety and excellence in all aspects of its operations."

"By following the principles of defensive driving, you can help create a safer environment for yourself and others on the road. Remember, safety should always be the top priority when driving," stated Commissioner Casey Kozlowski.
