After Historic Undercount of Hispanics in 2020 Census, Juan Ciscomani Wants To Make It Worse

Juan Ciscomani and House Republicans passed a bill that could lead to undercounting of Arizona Hispanics in the Census.

This bill is an affront to the 14th Amendment which calls for a count of "whole number of persons in each state," and comes despite the Supreme Court blocking the Trump Administration from adding a similar question to the 2020 Census which contributed to an undercount of Hispanics.

According to Pew Research, the 2020 Census produced an "historic undercount" of Hispanics, missing more than 3 million Hispanics, or one-in-twenty of them. Instead of solving this issue, Juan Ciscomani followed his party's far-right agenda and voted in favor of this extreme bill that would make the Census dramatically less accurate, jeopardizing federal investments and resources for Arizonans.

"Heard of the 14th Amendment? Juan Ciscomani clearly hasn't. Instead of working to deliver for hardworking Arizona Latinos by lowering costs, expanding health care, or creating good paying jobs, Ciscomani is choosing to deliberately undercount them - a dangerous political game that could lead to less resources for Arizona's Hispanic communities."
