Al Barnes Park (12pm-5pm)

This Saturday, Tampa Parks & Recreation will celebrate Kids to Parks Day, held annually the third Saturday in May, with millions of Americans who will join the National Park Trust (NPT) on May 21st to honor America's parks and public lands by attending more than 1,000 free park events in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Bring the whole family and join us at either Kate Jackson or Al Barnes Park for fun games, activities, music, community information and giveaways!
Similar to more than 400 cities nationwide, the City of Tampa and Mayor Jane Castor have signed a resolution of support proclaiming the third Saturday of every May as National Kids to Parks Day.
2022 marks the 12th anniversary of Kids to Parks Day, an annual day of outdoor exploration at local, state, and national parks and public lands across the country.

Organized by National Park Trust, the mission of Kids to Parks Day is to foster future outdoor enthusiasts and help with developing the next generation of park stewards by engaging kids in memorable outdoor experiences. While discovering and exploring our parks, kids learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM, and the history of our country and its amazing national treasures - because kids need parks and parks need kids!

Always hosted on the third Saturday of May, Kids to Parks Day encourages kids and families to get outside and create their own adventure at thousands of local park events and programs. National Park Trust works with cities and towns, teachers, families, park and public lands officials, and numerous sponsors and partners to make these events possible. Together we can protect and preserve our nation's parks and public lands, so please join us!

"Working with National Park Trust, Tampa Parks & Recreation is creating special opportunities to enjoy, learn and connect with America's beautiful outdoors that our department works hard to protect every day," said Sherisha Hills, Director Tampa Parks & Recreation.

ABOUT NATIONAL PARK TRUST
National Park Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and protection of our national parks and the engagement of our youth - especially those who are under-served - with our country's public lands and water. As people spend more time indoors and as successive generations grow up with less of a connection to nature, NPT wants everyone to have an American park experience.
