Defence Minister Nikos Dendias visits the United Kingdom, has a series of meetings

The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, paid a visit to London on Tuesday 26 March 2024 and Wednesday 27 March 2024, where he had contacts with British Officials for regional and international security matters, as well as for matters pertaining to bilateral defence cooperation.

Today (27/3/2024), the Minister of National Defence had a brief meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Oliver Dowden. Mr. Dendias also met with the National Security Adviser (NSA) of the United Kingdom, Sir Tim Barrow, and exchanged views for the security situation in Ukraine, the East Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Red Sea.

The visit of the Minister of National Defence started yesterday, Tuesday 26 March 2024, with his meeting with the Shadow Minister of State for Defence of the Labour Party, John Healey, after contacts he recently had with British counterparts. They discussed our defence relations both at the bilateral and NATO level, and exchanged views on ways to deal with emerging common challenges, as well as on the latest developments in Ukraine, the Middle East, and the Red Sea.

In the course of his meetings, Mr. Dendias also briefed on Greece's role in EU defensive Operation ASPIDES. He also stressed that our country is looking forward to the Greek defence innovation ecosystem in the Armed Forces cooperating with the British defence ecosystem, within the framework of the "Agenda 2030".

Yesterday, the Greek Minister also participated in the events for the celebration of the Greek Independence Day 25th March 1821, organised by the Embassy of Greece in London at the Ambassador's residence.

After the celebrations, also attended by members of the Greek community in London, and British citizens who have bonds with Greece, Mr. Dendias met with the Head, Captain Nikolaos Filias HN, and the personnel of the Defence Attaché Office in the United Kingdom.
