City Invites Applications for the New Re-entry Advisory Coalition

The City of Frederick is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for membership on the newly established Re-entry Advisory Coalition. The coalition seeks to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders including agency partners at local, state, and federal levels, industry professionals, service providers, justice-impacted individuals, and members of the public. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive and effective solutions for individuals affected by the justice system.

Chaired by Jason Lee, the Re-entry Advisory Coalition will consist of 12 members and be appointed by Mayor Michael O'Connor. The main objective of this coalition will be to create an active reentry strategic plan that identifies persistent or emerging trends in the criminal justice system; promotes systemwide thinking, planning, and action; emphasizes a more effective use of limited resources; enables the prioritization of city-wide goals; and allows for the focused pursuit of various funding sources. This will involve:

  • Conducting environmental scans of City practices, identifying trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and barriers
  • Identifying the major problem areas (housing, employment, transportation, etc.) and gaps in reentry services in the City
  • Determining a strategic direction for the Coalition and the program through the development of goals and objectives related to the major problem areas and gaps in reentry services

This collaborative effort aims to enhance the lives of individuals and strengthen our community through comprehensive support and reintegration strategies.

Applicants are encouraged to outline what they believe they can bring to the coalition that will be beneficial to the people it serves. To be considered, applicants must possess significant professional and/or personal experience related to the key barriers and solutions that Reentrants face such as, personally experienced incarceration, housing insecurity, addiction/substance use disorder, mental health, family, criminal justice system, employment, education, healthcare, basic needs, etc. They will understand the City's strengths, challenges, and diversity, and have a commitment to collaboration, coordination, and growth. Appointees will serve a two-year term. To apply or learn more about the Re-entry Advisory Coalition, please visit [insert application link here]. The application period is open until May 31.
