Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Anniversary
In the United States, July 26, commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law in 1990. The day is also referred to as National Disability Independence Day. The landmark ADA legislation has served as a de facto bill of rights for Americans with impairments by assuring access to economic and civic opportunities. Its passage represented the world's first comprehensive declaration of equality for people with disabilities.
