Despite Opposition from Carlos Giménez and María Elvira Salazar, Florida Receives $1 Billion for Everglades Preservation

On Wednesday, the White House and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced plans to invest $1.1 billion for restoring and preserving the Everglades, thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan which Carlos Gimenez and Maria Elvira Salazar both voted against.

The funds represent "the single largest investment in the Everglades in history" and "aim to increase the ecosystem's resilience against climate change."

The funding was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which received both Democratic and Republican votes, though not those of the fake Republican "moderates" from South Florida who continue to lie to voters about their ability to work across the aisle and get things done for South Florida.

DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola

"Carlos Gimenez and Maria Elvira Salazar lied to voters about being willing to work with both parties to protect the environment and preserve our precious natural resources. For any Member of Congress from South Florida to betray the Everglades like Carlos Gimenez and Maria Elvira Salazar did is beyond shameless. This funding has been sought after for years and they made it a priority in Congress to vote against it. Fortunately, the Everglades will get the help it needs thanks to President Biden and braver Members of Congress than Carlos and Maria Elvira."
