13 Oct 2021

WPP today announced the appointment of Jennifer Remling as Global Chief People Officer. Jennifer is currently the Global Chief People Officer of GroupM, WPP's media investment group. She will transition into the new role and will join WPP's Executive Committee, reporting to WPP CEO Mark Read.

Jennifer will be responsible for all aspects of WPP's people strategy and its critical role in the company's continued transformation. She will oversee global rewards, talent management and acquisition, diversity, equity and inclusion, leadership development and learning on behalf of the company's more than 100,000 people around the world.

Jennifer brings over 20 years of experience in talent acquisition and development, having founded her own executive search firm and led the HR functions at a number of leading agencies known for their creative, media, data and technology skills.

At GroupM, she designed and built a strong people leadership team across all regions globally, working in close partnership with the individual media agencies and the central WPP team.

Before joining GroupM in 2019, Jennifer was Global Chief Talent Officer of Essence, whose workforce grew by 40% during her tenure as it opened 18 new offices worldwide. Prior to Essence, she spent nearly four years as the Global SVP of Talent at R/GA, having also held senior roles at AKQA, 360i and Sapient.

Jennifer succeeds Jacqui Canney, who left the business in July to pursue a new opportunity.

Mark Read, CEO of WPP, said: "I am delighted that Jennifer is taking on this role, having had such a positive impact at GroupM. We need to continue to build a company with the best people in our industry and Jennifer will be a critical partner in helping us to attract and develop the best, most diverse talent to do great work for our clients."

Jennifer Remling said: "WPP has placed talent and culture at the heart of its transformation, and I couldn't be more excited to lead the next phase of the company's people strategy. WPP's role is to support our agencies and help them succeed, which means creating opportunities and rewarding career paths for all. I'd like to thank my fantastic colleagues at GroupM for a wonderful two years and I look forward to working closely with them in my new role."

GroupM will announce Jennifer's successor in due course.
