Thanks to President Biden and Democrats' leadership, 62,800 jobs were created in April, and unemployment is at 4.3%

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosareleased the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor today announced that Texas added 62,800 jobs in April. This report follows a year of record job growth and low unemployment rates in Texas and across the country thanks in large part to President Biden and Democrats' leadership:

"When President Biden took office, 948,440 Texans were unemployed, with many relying on unemployment insurance to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. Today, the unemployment rate in Texas is 4.3%. Across the country, the number of Americans forced to rely on unemployment insurance programs fell to its lowest level in over 52 years. Millions of families have moved from government support to earning a paycheck. While there is still work to do, this historic progress is the result of President Biden's economic plan to grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out - and the work of Texas Democrats to get it done.

"Now, tackling inflation is the President and Texas Democrats' top economic priority: they're working to address inflation by helping to lower the costs that families face on everything from gas to groceries. Meanwhile, congressional Republicans have proposed a plan that could raise taxes on working families, and jeopardize programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. While Democrats are laser-focused on lowering costs - like they've lowered unemployment - Republicans are more focused on pushing their extreme, ultra-MAGA agenda."
