Reigning Fed Cup champions France have been drawn with Russia and hosts and automatic qualifiers Hungary in Group A for the inaugural Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals at the official draw ceremony, held in host city Budapest.
Australia, who qualified automatically for the Fed Cup Finals as last year's finalists, will take on Belarus and Belgium in Group B, while 18-time Fed Cup champions and No.3 seeds USA are joined in Group C by Spain and Slovakia.
Eleven-time champions Czech Republic, who received a wild card to the Finals and are seeded No.4, will take on Germany and Switzerland in Group D.
Fed Cup Global Ambassador Billie Jean King was joined on stage at Budapest's Museum of Fine Arts in Heroes' Square by eight Hungarian junior players, who each selected one of the balls from the Fed Cup trophy to complete the draw.
With France, Australia, USA and Czech Republic pre-assigned to Groups A to D respectively, Finals nations seeded 5-8 were drawn into separate groups, before nations ranking 9-12 were drawn to complete the 12-team competition's group stage.
One team from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of Group A and Group C facing off in the top of the bracket, and the winners of Group B and Group D battling for the second spot in the final for the chance to be crowned Fed Cup world champions in 2020.
The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals will be held from April 14-19 at the Laszlo Papp Arena Budapest.
