Is Angola Ready to Re-engage with the IMF

Video Transcript

Dan Wood
Portfolio Manager
Emerging Markets Debt Team

I've arrived now in Luanda, Angola. We've got meetings with the IMF, with the finance ministry, with the central bank, and also with the conglomerate company that produces most of the oil in this country. We've been looking to find out: Are Angola ready to re-engage with the IMF, perhaps start a new program? On the oil production side, are we ready to see this ramp up after investment over the last couple of years? We'll also be looking at privatization. This has slowed in recent years, and we'll be looking at the pace this is going to pick up, the process, and how this is going to add to Angola's reserves.
