Commission Update: Mission Hill Triangle Architectural Conservation District Commission

The Mission Hill Triangle Architectural Conservation District Commission was created in 1985 to preserve the historic character of this neighborhood. Development in the area began in 1872 with the construction of two-story brick rowhouses, some with brownstone, sandstone, or marble facing. Most of the buildings remain substantially intact, and the neighborhood retains much of its original character and intimacy. After a long period of commissioner vacancies, we are pleased to report the recent appointment of five new members.

Patricia Tongue Edraos is an attorney who has lived in the neighborhood since the 1970s. She has been active in the neighborhood for decades, participating in the review and negotiations of many abutting institutional projects. Katie Genovese is a resident and property owner in the district who is the area union representative in the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers. She was a member of the Impact Advisory Group for the 95 St. Alphonsus Street residential development project.

Cindy Gura Walling is a resident and property owner in the district. She is the Associate Vice President, Community Residential Programs and Housing at EMPath, Inc. Ellen Moore has owned her property in the neighborhood since the 1980s and serves on both the Community Alliance of Mission Hill Board and the Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services Board.

Kirsten Hoffman lives in Boston's North End and serves on the Boston Landmarks Commission, Aberdeen Architectural Conservation District Commission, andthe Highland Park Architectural Conservation District Commission Study Committee. She is a real estate lawyer in Boston, with a prior career as an archaeologist and in historic preservation.
