Men's Track and Field Opens at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J.- Eastern University Men's Track and Field opened the 2020 season with an un-scored meet at Princeton University. posted a ne career best in the Pole Vault to lead a group of strong performances to open the year.

How It Happened:
With much of the team coming off the cross country season, the Eagles competed primarily in sprints and jumps in the meet. Dionne set a new personal record with a 15'1' vault in his first outing of the season.

With off for the day, the jumping duties fell to first year Stephan Kelley-Gordon. The rookie made the finals in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump and posted solid marks in both. He finished sixth in the Long Jump with a 6.86 meter effort and was fifth in the Triple Jump at 13.6 meters.

The Eagles had four runners qualify for MAC Championships in the 60 meter dash and and Jean-Michelet Andre both reached the finals in the 60 Meter High Hurdles. Shea ran a personal-best 8.65 to finish fifth. Andre ran an 8.79 to reach the finals.

The early-season meet did not have a 200 Meter dash or 800 Meter run. won the 600 Meter dash and Jake Barrett won the Mile Run.

Coach Falvo Says:
'I was very pleased with the performance early in the outdoor season. From our seniors to our freshman, we have a very productive day highlighted with multiple collegiate best performances. s school record and national top 10 performance in the pole vault was a great start to the season. As we continue to progress this season, we will need to work on the small technical aspects to each event. For our first meet of the year, I was pleased and excited for what is to come moving forward.'
