WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined U.S. Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) in introducing a bipartisan resolution celebrating National Charter School Week.
"Education is the gateway to opportunity," said Senator Tuberville. "Charter schools undeniably create pathways for our nation's future leaders to succeed in a way that best suits each student. I'm proud to join this bipartisan effort to recognize the impact charter schools have made and will continue to make on America's education landscape."
Senator Tuberville was joined by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Mike Braun (R-IN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Tom Carper (D-DE), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), John Cornyn (R-TX), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Maggie Hassen (D-NH), John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Jim Risch (R-ID), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Thom Tillis (R-NC) in introducing the resolution.

BACKGROUND:
As a former coach, mentor, and educator for more than 40 years, Senator Tuberville is committed to promoting educational opportunities for students. Senator Tuberville serves on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee where he is able to impact challenges and opportunities facing our nation's students and educators.
In 2023, Senator Tuberville was named the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Children and Families, which enables him to prioritize empowering families to make the best educational decisions for their children and drive legislation ensuring K-12 education provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for their desired career paths. In addition to the Subcommittee on Children and Families, Senator Tuberville also serves on the Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety.
Senator Tuberville was proud to host a roundtable discussion during National School Choice Week with parents, students, teachers, and administrators about making sure that parents, not the federal government, are in charge of their kids' education.
