Ubisoft+ Spotlight - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

(Editorial note: This is a series of quick weekly highlights written by our Ubisoft News team writers that feature games available with a Ubisoft+ subscription. We hope you'll enjoy reminiscing with us, or perhaps discover something new.)

Youssef Maguid, Manager, Editorial Communications: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag places you in the boots of Edward Kenway: a privateer turned pirate turned reluctant Assassin. Set in the Caribbean in the 18th century, the adventure sees Kenway fraternizing with history's most infamous pirates including Charles Vane, Stede Bonnet, Benjamin Hornigold, Bartholomew Roberts, and of course, Edward "Blackbeard" Thatch. Black Flag sets you loose on an open-world Caribbean as you captain your ship, the Jackdaw, from one end of the sea to the other, leaping off at a moment's notice to explore islands, hunt animals, liberate plantations, and search for treasure.

Speaking of the Jackdaw, while Black Flag didn't pioneer Assassin's Creed's naval combat, it undoubtedly perfected it, allowing you to take part in epic sea battles. Duke it out with a deadly array of ship weapons and top it off with a daring boarding maneuver by swinging onto the deck of the opposing ship to dispatch its crew. Upgrading and customizing your ship's armor, weapons, sails, paint, and more remains a satisfying gameplay loop and using your fully upgraded ship to track down and take out legendary ships is the game's ultimate challenge. Set sail in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag today with a Ubisoft+ subscription.
