Parliament Profile: The Return of Isaac Foster

After missing a majority of the 2021 season due to injury, Kennesaw State football is excited for the return of star running back and former 2018 Big South Special Teams Player of the Year, . The Summerville, Ga. native is prepared for his comeback tour and aims to leave his mark in the ASUN Conference during its inaugural season.

Foster became a household name to Owl fans with his ability to break-off explosive plays and special teams touchdowns. The running back ranks first in KSU history with 10.5 average yards per play and holds two kickoff return touchdowns of over 100 yards. Foster has earned multiple All-Conference accolades and was named a HERO Sports' First-Team Freshman All-American in 2018.

"I'm excited to be back out there playing in a Kennesaw State jersey as we enter a new conference," says the All-American athlete. "I've been able to rely on our phenomenal sports medicine staff here at KSU and having my teammates, faith and family to lean on has helped me keep a positive mindset throughout the entire recovery process."

The mindset from Foster doesn't surprise KSU running-backs coach , who has watched Foster since he began recruiting him from Chattooga High School. "Isaac has already graduated so for him to come back for another season, that tells you what type of young man he is," Glanton said, noting that Foster has several stand-out qualities as an athlete. "He's highly intelligent, super coachable, loves playing ball, and is the best teammate I've ever been around."

This is the type of veteran leadership it is going to take for Kennesaw State to repeat as conference champions and earn its fifth trip to the FCS Playoffs. "The competition is very stout with a bunch of great teams in the ASUN, but as long as we go to work every day with our EAT (Effort. Attitude. Toughness.) mentality, then we have a chance to achieve our team goals. Being an older guy and running this offense for a few years, I believe I can lead the younger guys with my understanding of the playbook and knowledge of the game."

His younger teammates can learn from Foster, Glanton adds, because he puts in the work in and out of season. "He does a lot in the off-season, asks a lot of questions, watches a lot of film and is a really good student of the game."

As Foster sets out to help the Owls in their drive to clench their fourth conference championship in the last five fall seasons, he's confident in all of his teammates around him. "What I'm able to accomplish out on the field is because of the guys in front of me," Foster states. "It's going to be fun playing alongside these guys this year and I'm excited to see how far we can go as a team."

Foster's Favorite 5
Read on for a few fun facts about the KSU running back:

  • What's your go-to pre-game meal?
Isaac: The night before a game it's J.D.'s Bar-B-Que all the way. And when we spend the night in a hotel for away games, it's fried chicken, green beans, a good salad and mashed potatoes.
  • Any superstitions or rituals in the locker room?
Issac: I like to stay loose and talk to all my teammates to encourage them before the game. Everyone has music going on in there, and we're all locked in and in the zone.
  • Favorite KSU football memory so far?
Isaac: Definitely playing at Truist Park against Jacksonville State where we went into 5 overtimes to win the game. We were the first team to play a football game there and got to go in the Braves' home locker room, so that was really fun.
  • How about your favorite memory at KSU in general?
Isaac: For me, that would be walking across the stage at graduation.
  • Favorite hangout spot on campus or in Kennesaw?
Isaac: I'm a homebody so I like having all my boys over, and we just hang out. But probably my favorite restaurant around Kennesaw that we all love is Otter's Chicken.
