Muscovites favor SberPay for online supermarket and restaurant purchases

Residents of the capital are increasingly using SberPay, the new payment service launched by Sber last summer, to pay for their purchases and services online. While the number of purchases made using the technology in Moscow in June 2020 was just over 19,000 transactions, April 2021 saw Muscovites using SberPay for over 4.385 million purchases amounting to over RUB 10 bn.

In the 11 months since the service launched, clients of Sberbank's Moscow Bank have used SberPay over 18 million times, making payments amounting to a total of RUB 47.9 bn. Frequently, the payments made were online purchases from supermarkets and restaurants. The new technology is also often used to pay for goods and services in the following categories: pharmacies, grocery stores and markets, and service stations.

SberPay users can use the service to pay for goods and services on almost 60,000 websites and not have to waste time inputting their phone number or bank card details. The service is as secure as possible, as data are not transmitted to third-party sites. SberPay presents a serious advantage for businesses - connecting the service does not require any additional settings by partners. It noticeably improves conversion into purchases.
