Whitehorse RCMP investigating a series of weekend vandalism

Whitehorse RCMP is aware of and is investigating a significant number of calls related to vandalism and damage to vehicles from the weekend. Anyone with surveillance footage that shows suspects or who may have witnessed these acts of vandalism is encouraged to contact Whitehorse RCMP.

Starting on Saturday, May 4 at approximately 6:30 am, Whitehorse RCMP began hearing from members of the community who reported damage to vehicles that had been parked outside overnight in the Riverdale neighbourhood. The investigating officer also conducted patrols in the area, located other vehicles with damage, and made the owners of these vehicles aware. The number of vehicles impacted is now twenty. Most of the damage involves spray paint, with one vehicle also having damage to a tire.

Based on surveillance footage, police believe that two people may have been involved in causing the damage to these vehicles, and are working to identify the people in the video. Police also want to hear from witnesses or anyone who has further surveillance footage from the areas of Lewes Blvd., Teslin Rd., Klondike Rd., Ross Rd., Hart Cres., Peel Rd., or other parts of the Riverdale neighbourhood that show suspicious behaviour from approximately 11:00 pm on Friday, May 3 to approximately 6:30 am on Saturday, May 4.

Anyone with information about this investigation, including vandalism not yet reported to police, is encouraged to contact Whitehorse RCMP at 867 667 5555. To remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1 (800) 222-8477 or online at https://www.crimestoppersyukon.ca/
