Honduras to receive donation of 400,000 masks through the Korea - CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF)

Tegucigalpa, May 24, 2021. - On Monday, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Republic of Honduras signed a Non-Reimbursable Technical Cooperation Agreement in kind for the donation of at least 400,000 Korean KF-94 masks to be used for the protection of personnel in the country's health sector.

The US$330,000 grant comes from the Korea - CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) and is intended to support national efforts to address the spread of the pandemic.

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, highlighted: 'As part of CABEI's work to prevent the effects of the pandemic in our region, today we are pleased to materialize this support from the Republic of Korea, joining efforts to protect our people in times of emergency such as the one we are experiencing.

The agreement was signed by the Secretary of State in the Finance Office, Mr. Marco Midence, and CABEI Executive Vice President, Mr. Jaime Roberto Díaz, as well as CABEI Director for the Republic of Honduras, Catherine Chang Carías, as honorary witness.

The total amount of cooperation, for a total of nine beneficiary countries, is equivalent to US$3.0 million from the Republic of Korea through the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF). Honduras is the first to receive the grant.
