Hawaiian Electric utility work in Laie & Kahuku to affect traffic on Kamehameha Highway starting Monday

HONOLULU, Oct. 29, 2020 - Hawaiian Electric crews will be performing utility work to replace overhead power lines along portions of Kamehameha Highway in Laie and Kahuku from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Nov. 2, 4-6), as part of a phased upgrade to improve system reliability in Koolauloa. No work will be done Nov. 3, Election Day.
Affected areas are as follows:
Monday, Nov. 2: Work will close a portion of the mauka southbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Cackle Fresh Outlet Store and a portion of the makai northbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Laie Refuse Convenience Center. Traffic will be contraflowed.
Wednesday & Friday, Nov. 4, 6: Work will close a portion of the makai northbound lane of Kamehameha Highway at the intersection of Naniloa Loop near Hukilau Beach Park. Traffic will be contraflowed. The work will also affect portions of Naniloa Loop.
Thursday, Nov. 5: Work will close portions of the makai northbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Gunstock Ranch. Traffic will be contraflowed.
Traffic signs, cones, and parking barricades will mark the work zones. Flagmen and special duty police officers will be onsite to direct traffic. Motorists should slow down and exercise caution when approaching and passing the area.
