HIDALGO, Texas-U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge intercepted $344,000 worth of alleged fentanyl along with 2,873 Xanax pills.

"It is vital to the safety of our officers that we are able to identify what type of narcotic we are dealing with, as a small amount of fentanyl can be fatal," said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

Packages containing nearly 15 pounds of fentanyl and 2,873 pills of Xanax seized by CBP officers at Hidalgo International Bridge.

On November 5, 2022, CBP officers assigned to the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered a black Ford Expedition making entry from Mexico. CBP OFO seized the narcotics and vehicle, and the case remains under investigation by special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI).
