No. 8 Northern State Opens 2019 with Back-to-Back Sweeps

Golden, Colo.
- The No. 8 Northern State University volleyball team opened the season with a pair of sweeps over Alaska Fairbanks and Dallas Baptist University from the Colorado Mines Oredigger Classic. The Wolves out-scored their opponents 150-103 through the six sets of action, hitting above .300 in both matches.

  • Northern opened the match with a 25-17 victory in set one and quickly took set two with a score of 25-11
  • Alaska Fairbanks battled with the Wolves in the third set, however NSU pulled out the 25-19 victory after UAF tied things at 17-all
  • The Wolves combined for 47 kills, 45 assists, 40 digs, three aces, and three blocks in the win
  • The offense hit .351 through three sets, including a match high .458 in the second set
  • Defensively they held the Nanooks to 26 kills and a .089 hitting percentage
