Sparks, Nev. - There's nothing like a hot August night to get you in the mood to move! "Let's Move" is the theme of the August Sparks Art Walk taking place this Thursday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 9 p.m. in downtown Sparks, Victorian Square. A map with the activities schedules is available at the Depot Gallery, located next to Lillard Park on Victorian Ave.

At 6 p.m., join local actress and TikTok dancer Cicely Capozzi for an all-age all-ability 45-minute workshop to learn popular TikTok dances. Continue to move to the music with DJ Diskoteka, courtesy of KWNK 97.9FM, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

In addition to dancing and music, Sparks Art Walk offers multiple artist exhibits to explore. The Depot Gallery features two local painters Walt Barker and Eddie Guth for this month's reception, held from 5 to 7 p.m. A docent-led tour of the city's commissioned public art takes place at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. with tours beginning in Lillard Park, next to the Depot Gallery. Each tour is approximately 45 minutes and includes six blocks of art and history.

If visitors prefer a self-guided tour, each art piece along Victorian Avenue comes with a QR code that lets visitors scan to learn more from the artists. Exhibits are also located at the Depot Gallery, the Sparks Heritage Museum and various restaurants and bars taking part in the Sierra Arts Galleries On VIC program.

The Sparks Heritage Museum offers the Latimer Art Club's eye-catching and one-of-a-kind art pieces. Light refreshments are provided. These pieces are only on display through August 26. Also on display is a historic postcard exhibit commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Circus Room and its opening at John Ascauga's Nugget. The train display across the street, next door to The Depot Gallery, is open for self-guided tours. The Museum is open from 4 to 7 p.m. and admission is free during the Sparks Art Walk.

The Galleries on VIC feature a local artist exhibition in each location including Engine 8 with art from Dale Slingland, O'Skis - Naomi Di Vine; Cantina Los Tres Hombres featuring Lauren Mari Hufft, Packs and Pints - Nathanael Kunhne; and Pinon Bottle Company with Jennifer Charboneau.

Keep moving after the walk. Live music, food trucks, a plant swap and vendors will be along Victorian Square. Live music by Darren Senn takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the Great Basin Stage.
