6/29/2022 – Visit LA Animal Services Centers With No Appointments Needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Starting July 5

Los Angeles, June 29, 2022 - LA Animal Services is pleased to announce that starting Tuesday, July 5, 2022, appointments will no longer be needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays to visit our six shelters throughout the City, and will be open from 8am to 5pm. We will continue to operate without appointments on the weekends, from 11am to 5pm. View pets available for adoption by clicking here.

"In an effort to better serve our community and encourage more opportunities for the pets in our shelters to be adopted, we are pleased to operate without appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, joining Saturday and Sunday that welcome walk-in visitors," said Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. "This decision is made possible thanks to discussions between the Department, Labor Union partners, Personnel Department, supervisors, and staff, who provide input in modifying shelter hours."

Appointments for adoptions will still be required on Wednesdays and Fridays and our Centers will remain closed on Mondays. We will continue to provide appointments for surrenders for non-emergency intakes. Emergency intakes are animals that are sick, injured, dangerous or do not have another safe option. We encourage owners requesting to surrender their pets to take advantage of Home to Home, which helps owners with being a part of the placement process to find the next best home for their pet. Residents who find an animal can provide temporary foster care for an animal and post it on our Shelter at Homesite to help reunite the family so the pet doesn't have to come into the shelter.
