The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH), which monitors organisations for the collective management of copyright, has published its first annual report on monitoring issues.
Pending monitoring cases at the PRH relate to the transfer of rights based on contracts, activity of the collective management organisations in the market and extent of the rightholder's self-determination.
In 2020, there were seven organisations for the collective management of copyright and related rights in Finland. All the organisations have to submit a transparency report to the PRH.
Owing to the duty to provide guidance and to promote good practices as stated in the Collective Management Act, the PRH is preparing guidelines concerning transparency reports.
