SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The top two club basketball programs in the state of South Dakota, Sanford POWER Basketball Academy and South Dakota Attack Basketball, are combining to create more opportunities for athletes and raise the level of development, play and experiences for girls and boys.

The Sanford POWER Basketball Academy is the most comprehensive training academy in the region. It runs competitive fall/winter and summer teams for boys and girls, operates at an elite facility - the Sanford Pentagon - and has direct access to strength and conditioning, sports physical therapy, sports science and sports medicine. South Dakota Attack Basketball, founded 10 years ago by Bill Cartwright, has a history of producing strong teams and developing outstanding players.

Coaches and staff from both programs will join together to form the new organization.

"This is a great move for the state of South Dakota and our athletes to have the two premier programs in the state come together under one roof," said Freddy Coleman, director of the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Academy. "Bill Cartwright has built an incredible culture, and our goal is to create an experience for athletes that cannot be matched by any other program in our region. Our teams will compete on some of the nation's biggest stages in AAU basketball that will ultimately create lifelong memories and create exposure at the highest levels."

"First, I would like to thank Freddy Coleman and Todd Kolb for this opportunity and their collective vision for the future of South Dakota AAU Basketball," said Bill Cartwright, founder and director of South Dakota Attack Basketball. "It's not every day you have the opportunity to combine two elite and iconic basketball programs and offer this region an unrivaled experience - unparalleled facilities and training plus experienced coaches and directors with an unmatched network of college coaches and recruiters."

Tryouts for 2023 boys teams 14U-17U will take place on Aug. 20. Tryouts for 2023 girls teams 14U-17U will take place on Aug. 21 at the Sanford Pentagon. Athletes who previously participated in 2023 tryouts at the Sanford Pentagon should not register. They will be accounted for by coaches and will receive separate email communication soon.
