Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument Launches Night Sky Program

LAS VEGAS -

Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument held its first-ever Night Sky Astronomy program on November 20th in partnership with Desert National Wildlife Refuge. The Monument's new Night Sky program aims to share stargazing experiences with the urban communities surrounding Tule Springs Fossil Beds. Many cities across the globe experience light pollution-the collective effect of artificial lights that make objects in the night sky difficult to see. This program was developed to encourage connections to the natural world without leaving the city. Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument hopes to expand their Night Sky programming to provide educational opportunities for visitors about curbing light pollution, distant planets, and nocturnal wildlife.

The Monument will continue providing educational opportunities collaboratively with our partners, as the formal park planning process moves forward in the coming years. To view the events calendar or plan your visit to the Monument, visit www.nps.gov/TUSK
