Work will resume on a project to improve more than 10 miles of roadway in Rockland and Cranberry townships, Venango County.

The project includes the following roadways:

  • East State Road (Route 2006) - from Route 257 to Hill City Road (Route 2015) in Cranberry Township; 3.6 miles;
  • Rockland Cranberry Road (Route 2013) - from the East Sandy Creek Bridge to Route 322 in Rockland and Cranberry townships; 2.6 miles; and
  • Deep Hollow Road (Route 2035) - from Route 322 to Bredinsburg Road (Route 2006) in Cranberry Township; 4.2 miles.

The project began in the fall 2023. Work that year included paving, and updates to guiderail and drainage.

Work in 2024 will include sealing of bridge joints, line painting, seal coating, and rumble strips. It is expected to resume on May 1, 2024, weather permitting, and to be completed by June 2024.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

The contractor is Shields Asphalt Paving of Valencia, PA. The contract cost is $4,125,511.97, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region expects to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
