Just after 11:00 PM on 08/11/2022, Tampa Police received a call of a traffic crash on Rowlett Park Dr, just north of Sligh Ave. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive black female lying in the roadway. The victim was transported to the hospital and died of her injuries. Vehicle debris in the roadway contained part numbers belonging to a 2003-2005 Honda Pilot.

Officers quickly began developing leads and located the registered address of the vehicle, responding to find the vehicle parked in the driveway. The vehicle had damage consistent with debris at the crash scene and one of the victims' bluetooth earbuds was still present on the hood of the vehicle.

Officers determined that 63-year-old Arnold Perry (black male, 04/21/1959) was driving the car when the crash occurred. Officers conducted a post-Miranda interview with Perry who admitted to driving the vehicle, when he struck an unknown object but did not stop. When he returned home, he observed damage to the headlight of the vehicle and told registered owner he was involved in a crash. At no point in time after the crash, did he attempt to contact law enforcement to report the crash.

Perry was arrested and transported to the Orient Road Jail, charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death.
