Strengthening scientific and technical research for the development and transfer of knowledge, including the digitization and communication of university journals, as well as the exchange of human resource cooperation are some of the goals of the agreements signed by the Minister of the Presidency, Álvaro Alemán and the Rectors of the University of Panama (UP) and the Santa María La Antigua Catholic University (USMA).
Alemán said that he is pleased to sign this agreement with the UP and the USMA as a public-private partnership that seeks to strengthen education in the country, an objective that is endorsed by the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela.
The rector of the UP, Eduardo Flores said that signing a framework agreement is something historical, as they are committed to give back to society that effort made by this house of higher education, demonstrating academically showing the place that occupies the largest university in the country with more publications at national level.
'We are convinced that the Presidency is also committed to bringing society to the best of the intellectually, of the academy, science, arts and culture, so this agreement is one of the most important that we have signed this year', said Flores.
For his part, Juan Planells, rector of the USMA, said that this agreement is of great importance because it represents giving the academy their place in terms of social priorities.
In this sense, it stands out that both higher education centers offer, to the extent of their possibilities, advice, collaboration, academic and technical matters, and administrative for the development of programs that are generated, as well as voluntary actions, and that, in additionally, students can perform professional internships in the operating units under the umbrella of the Ministry of the Presidency.
In order to fulfill the stated objectives, subsequent specific agreements will be developed for the execution of defined activities.
The Ministry of the Presidency has the mission of coordinating the State entities and be the communication Organ of the President of the Republic and the Cabinet Council, with the other Institutions of the public sector and with individuals in general.
