C-NLOPB Seeks Input from Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous Groups, the Public and Stakeholders on draft Labrador Shelf Offshore Area Strategic Environmental Assessment[...]

Written Submissions

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is inviting Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous Groups, the public and stakeholders to comment on the draft Labrador Shelf Offshore Area Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Update, prepared by Aivek Stantec Limited Partnership.

A SEA Update examines the potential environmental effects which may be associated with a plan, program or policy proposal and allows for the incorporation of environmental considerations at the earliest stages of program planning. A SEA Update involves a broader-scale environmental assessment that considers the larger ecological setting and engagement with a wide array of stakeholders.

The C-NLOPB is undertaking the update with the assistance of a Working Group co-chaired by the C-NLOPB and the Nunatsiavut Government, with members from federal and provincial government agencies, oil and gas and fishing industries and Indigenous Groups. A summary of the draft SEA Update has been developed and is available on the C-NLOPB's website in English, Inuttitut, and Innu-aimun.

Written comments on the draft Labrador Shelf Offshore Area SEA Update will be accepted until noon on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Comments must be sent to the address below or via email to [email protected].
