National Volunteer Week

April 21-27, 2024 is National Volunteer Week. I am proud to have served (and continue to serve) my fellow citizens in times of need. There is so much we can all do to make positive impacts on our community.

You can find countless incredible organizations to get involved with right here in southern Illinois. A few that I've had the pleasure of working with over the years are:

• Washington County Senior Citizens Board
• Chakota
• Heartland Conservancy District
• FFA Alumni
• 4-H
• Murray Parents Association
• The Jaycees

Local churches are great places to learn about volunteer opportunities too. I've found much joy in working with mine, St. Peter's United Church of Christ, in several capacities.

I have seen firsthand the positive change these groups have brought to our communities for years. So, get out there, serve however you can, and make a difference in your community!
