GeoFORCE Summer Academy

Doyon sponsored 15 shareholders to attend GeoFORCE Alaska, a four-year summer-based geoscience academy. Students traveled from Beaver, Fort Yukon, Galena, Huslia, and Nulato, making this class the first with students from Alaska's Interior.

GeoFORCE students travel to different regions of the United States during the four-year program. This summer, students explored close to home, learning about Alaska's geology while visiting the University of Alaska Museum of the North, the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility, the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, and enjoyed rafting and learning on the Chena River.

"We are pleased to sponsor 15 shareholders to the GeoFORCE academy. It was a great opportunity for our shareholders to learn more about our land and its geology," said Jamie Marunde, Vice President of Lands and Natural Resources.

Committed to keeping staff and students safe throughout the ongoing global pandemic, the program was split into groups of 11-12 students each with testing before and after the trip, masking, social distancing, and many outdoor activities.
