Grants to Strengthen the Cultural Ecosystem in the Arab Region

The All-Around Culture 4-year regional programme, co-funded by the European Union, has just launched two open calls for cultural and artistic entities as well as individuals.

The 'Youth-led Cultural and Civic Initiatives' call supports young artists, collectives, researchers, civil society activists and cultural operators interested in developing community-based and contextual projects in their territory. It provides a possibility to innovate, experiment and engage in contextual creation process, exchanges and collaborations. Selected applicants will receive a research grant of up to €3,000 and production grants with a maximum amount of €20,000 to cover production costs. The deadline to apply for this call is December 25, 2020.

The 'Cultural Alliances' call which supports cultural alliances seeking to strengthen their adaptive capacities and to engage in setting up a collaboration within alliances as well as wider partnerships on the local, national and regional levels, will offer a grant of up to €110,000 for each alliance as well as tailor-made learning modules and regional collaborations. Cultural Alliances applications must be submitted by January 7, 2021.

Both calls aim to strengthen the cultural ecosystem and facilitate and increase access to culture within their contexts. The programme aims to foster a vital cultural ecosystem as an enabling environment for social and economic inclusion of young people in seven countries across the Arab region including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and the Libyan and Syrian communities in these countries. Several grants will be available throughout the programme.
