30th Annual Gardens in the Watershed tour a success

Posted July 29, 2021

Georges River Land Trust (GRLT) reports another successful year running its annual Gardens in the Watershed tour.

Helmed by an 11-person committee of gardeners and community members, this year's tour took place on Sunday, July 18th in downtown Thomaston. The tour featured seven beautiful home gardens for tour guests to enjoy.

Though the morning came with torrential rain and high winds, GRLT was glad to see close to 400 people come out to see the selection of home gardens. 'Our appreciation goes out to everyone who made this year's tour possible,' said Debroah Rogers, Chair of the Garden Tour Committee, 'guests, volunteers, sponsors, local vendors--and especially our garden hosts.'

The committee publicly thanks our lead sponsors, Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding and Plants Unlimited for underwriting this year's tour. GRLT remains grateful for the continued support of local vendors who sponsored the event and allowed for advance tickets to be sold at their business locations.

With revenue still being tallied from the event, Rogers is excited to see the proceeds go towards advancing the conservation and public access work conducted by Georges River Land Trust. 'We live in a very special place which we want to maintain for the future generations to come. The garden tour helps us further that mission.'
