The Backbone of the Power Grid: Celebrating Our Lineworkers

Every year on April 18, we pause to recognize the dedication and courage of the people behind the power grid - our lineworkers. Lineworkers have the vital job of keeping our communities powered 24/7, often facing tough weather conditions and scaling great heights to build, maintain and repair electric infrastructure throughout our region.

"What I enjoy most about my job is that I have the flexibility to work in a variety of skilled job positions, not just one area. As a lineman, you can work overhead or underground lines, distribution or transmission. When a person is exposed to so many aspects of the overall scope of a project rather than one small segment, they tend to take more pride and they find more desire to provide a better product for the community. What stands out to me most is that everything we construct, from generation, transmission, to distribution, are literally the building blocks of businesses, industry, cities, and communities.
