Last month, I, along with Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), introduced H.R. 7240, bipartisan and bicameral legislation with Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Marco Rrubio (R-FL) to reauthorize the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act of 2017 for an additional five years to equitably expand access to basic education for children around the globe.
As we push forward this extremely important legislation, I would like to thank the thirty-eight endorsing organizations that have worked diligently in the global education space over the years and have voiced support for this pivotal goal we are working toward. The U.S. is committed to ensuring that all children have access to quality, basic education, and it is urgent that we pass this important legislation swiftly.
