Sber to finance Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport upgrade

Sber and VEB.RF are set to finance an upgrade of Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport's terminal for international and domestic flights, carried out by Airport Tolmachevo. The banks will be providing RUB 13.9 bn in syndicated credit in the framework of Project Finance Factory.

This infrastructure project is strategically important, and implementing it will have a strong synergistic effect on the economy of the entire Siberian Federal District. Tolmachevo is the largest Russian aviation hub beyond the Urals. The need for air transportation in the region is growing more rapidly than at the national level, which means that the airport's capacity needs to be increased as soon as possible. We are pleased to be financing such a significant project, which will craft a new look for the airport and present new possibilities for millions of passengers traveling by air.

Anatoly Popov

Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank

Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport's new passenger terminal and airfield infrastructure will ensure safe flights, improve passenger service quality, and boost airport capacity. We plan to provide the first loans as early as July 2021. Financing infrastructure, including major aviation hub upgrades and terminal construction and renovation, is one of the development institute's key objectives.

Nikolay Tsekhomskiy

First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, VEB.RF

The project is being implemented by Airport Tolmachevo in the framework of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of Trunk Infrastructure in order to boost demand for air transportation, improve passenger comfort, increase airport capacity, and eliminate infrastructure limitations.

The airport upgrade project is part of an extensive aviation hub development program. The new terminal is scheduled to be completed by Q3 2022. It will cover 56,000 m2 and have a capacity of 10.6 million passengers per year.
