Statement from Matt Smith, President, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference, on Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey's Proposed 2023 Budget

(PITTSBURGH - November 14, 2022) - "The Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, appreciates Mayor Gainey's approach to investing in Pittsburgh's foundational structure to ensure a solid base upon which to build a successful future. With critical investments being spread across city departments, the proposed budget aims to build a more effective and efficient service delivery model for all.

"To foster a healthy and vibrant city, we need reliable infrastructure and streamlined municipal services that stimulate and steward robust and inclusive growth and investment. Strategic investments can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of permitting and regulatory processes, strengthen Downtown's infrastructure and safety, and remove barriers for those who want to live and do business with the city, especially Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business companies. As we move forward, it will be vital to invest in programs and systems to ensure that Pittsburgh's growth yields benefits for all within the city and across the entire region.

"We look forward to our continued work with Mayor Gainey, his administration and City Council to achieve a vibrant downtown and overall thriving city that offers economic opportunity and an attractive quality of life for all who live, work, and do business in Pittsburgh - the heart of our 10-county region."
