November 7, 2022

Alhurra plans more than 30 hours of coverage starting on Tuesday, Nov. 8th, to bring information about the U.S. midterm elections to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa. Correspondents will be live from 10 states, interviewing voters about the issues most important to them.

At 7 a.m. (EST) on Nov. 8th, Alhurra and its digital platforms will start its election day coverage, which will continue as returns come in that evening and throughout the next day. Each hour of Alhurra's extensive coverage will focus on a prominent topic in the elections, including the economy, abortion, social security, national security, foreign affairs and key races that will influence the majority in Congress, with Republican and Democratic guests providing analysis to these issues and races. The network will integrate historical information into its coverage to provide context for its viewers. Alhurra will also use state-of-the-art graphics and augmented reality to ensure audiences can easily comprehend some of the more complex issues that will decide this race.

"Showing free and fair elections is paramount to MBN's mission. We can do this better through Alhurra's extensive coverage of the midterm elections than any other Arabic-language network," stated MBN Acting President Hassan Shwiki. "We can exhibit the plurality of America and how voters can make their views known through the ballot box."

Leading up to Election Day, Alhurra aired a daily segment that explored the views of American millennials, who shared their thoughts on what is essential for the country's future. Alhurra.com hosted a dedicated landing page for the midterm elections, providing animated explainers, context and in-depth analysis.
